Last week, the Mujahedeen Shura Council posted a statement claiming they were holding four men. In that statement, they demanded Russia immediately pull their troops out of Chechnya and that Russia release all mujahedeen prisoners they hold or else the safety of the hostages could not be assured. The captives included the Russian embassy's third secretary, Fyodor Zaitsev, and three other employees: Rinat Agliulin, Anatoly Smirnov and Oleg Fedoseyev.
